About the Melody Composer

Compose and play monophonic melodies directly in your browser using Do-Re-Mi numbered notation (Jianpu) and the classic RTTTL format. Inspired by the direct, accessible note-keying of the Nokia 3310 composer, this tool turns numbers 1 to 7 into instant musical tones.

Explore 8 genre presets spanning Classical, Gaming, Pop, Synthwave, Rock, and Cinema. All preset melodies are 100% public domain compositions or royalty-free original riffs. Export your finished track to uncompressed WAV audio, standard Type 0 MIDI (.mid), or RTTTL code.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Do-Re-Mi (numbered musical notation) work?

Numbered musical notation (also known as Jianpu) assigns digits 1 through 7 to the major scale: 1=Do (C), 2=Re (D), 3=Mi (E), 4=Fa (F), 5=Sol (G), 6=La (A), and 7=Si (B). The number 0 represents a musical rest (silence). This system allows anyone to write and play melodies without reading sheet music.

What is RTTTL format and where can I use it?

RTTTL (Ring Tone Text Transfer Language) is an open text format created by Nokia for monophonic phone ringtones. It specifies song name, default octave, duration, tempo in BPM, and a comma-separated list of notes. It is widely used by microcontrollers like Arduino piezo buzzers, vintage synth emulators, and ringtone tools.

Are the preset melodies copyright-safe?

Yes. Every preset in this tool is verified to be either worldwide public domain (such as Beethoven, 19th-century folk songs, or Francisco Tárrega’s 1902 Gran Vals) or an original royalty-free motif composed specifically for this utility.

Are my audio compositions uploaded to your server?

No. The audio synthesis, WAV encoding, and MIDI generation execute 100% on your device using the browser Web Audio API and client-side binary buffers. Your music stays private.

Can I use the exported WAV and MIDI files in commercial projects?

Yes. Any melody you compose and export using this tool is entirely your property. You are free to use exported WAV and MIDI files in games, videos, podcasts, and commercial software without restrictions.
