Number Base Converter

Convert an integer from any base (2 to 36) into binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal at once. Backed by BigInt for arbitrary precision.

About This Tool

Parses an integer in any base from 2 to 36 and renders it simultaneously across binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal formats. Conversions run via JavaScript BigInt using exact digit place-value math, guaranteeing precision far past standard 64-bit float limits (Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER).

Input digits are validated in real time against the selected base. Characters outside the allowed alphabet are highlighted immediately rather than silently failing.

Key Features

  • Four simultaneous outputs: Binary, octal, decimal, and hex outputs calculate together from a single input.
  • Any base 2 to 36: Select standard radixes or choose any custom base between 2 and 36.
  • Arbitrary precision: Engineered with BigInt so 64-bit and 128-bit numbers convert without precision rounding.
  • Signed integer support: Negative values with leading minus signs are parsed and represented across all bases.
  • Real-time validation: Flags invalid characters instantly according to selected base rules.
  • 1-Click copy: Individual copy buttons for each converted radix format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this tool handle large numbers that break other online converters?
Standard JavaScript numbers use 64-bit IEEE 754 floating-point values, which lose precision past 9,007,199,254,740,991 (Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER). This calculator uses native BigInt arbitrary-precision arithmetic to convert arbitrarily huge integers without rounding.
How does custom base conversion (radix 2 to 36) work?
Digits 0 through 9 represent values 0 to 9, and letters A through Z represent values 10 through 35. Case is insensitive during input parsing.
Can I convert negative integers?
Yes. Enter a leading minus sign (e.g. -255 or -FF) and each converted output will retain its negative sign.
How are fractional or floating-point numbers handled?
This tool is specialized for exact integer conversion. Fractional or decimal point inputs are rejected to preserve strict Bit/BigInt mathematical integrity.
Is any calculation executed on a remote server?
No. All radix calculations run locally in your browser memory. No numbers or clipboard contents are ever transmitted over the network.
