About This Tool

Parses a docker-compose.yml and generates a matching Kubernetes Deployment and Service manifest for each service, a quick way to sketch what a Compose-based dev stack would look like running on a cluster before writing manifests by hand.

It is a starting point for sketching deployments. For general YAML conversion work unrelated to Kubernetes, see JSON to YAML or YAML to JSON.

Key Features

  • Live regeneration: Manifests update as soon as the Compose YAML or any option changes.
  • Three global options: Target namespace, replica count, and Service type editable above editors.
  • Sample Compose file: A two-service example (API + Postgres) to see the mapping immediately.
  • Copy or download: Grab the combined YAML via clipboard or as a .yaml file.
  • Keyboard shortcut: Cmd/Ctrl+Enter re-runs the conversion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Compose fields does the converter read?
Only image, ports, and environment under each service. Fields like volumes, networks, depends_on, build, and command are ignored.
What happens with multiple services?
Each service under services: produces its own Deployment and Service pair, with every manifest joined by document separators in one output file.
Why is there no Service resource for one of my services?
A Kubernetes Service is only generated for a compose service that has at least one port mapping. Services with no ports: entry get a Deployment only.
Do Namespace, Replicas, and Service Type apply to every service?
Yes, all three options are applied uniformly across every service found in the Compose file.
Is my Compose file uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and YAML generation both run entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
