About This Tool

The Barcode Generator turns product SKUs, serial numbers, and inventory IDs into scannable standard 1D linear barcodes.

Supports Code 128 (high-density alphanumeric), EAN-13 and EAN-8 (retail and packaging), UPC-A (North American retail), and Code 39 (industrial and inventory). Export cleanly formatted vector SVG markup or high-resolution PNG images.

Key Features

  • 5 barcode formats: Generate Code 128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, and Code 39 with automatic checksum calculation.
  • Vector SVG & PNG export: Copy clean SVG XML directly to your clipboard or download standalone SVG and PNG files.
  • Custom sizing and colors: Adjust bar height, module scale, quiet zone margins, font size, and foreground/background colors.
  • Real-time validation: Instant feedback for format restrictions, character set limitations, and check digit discrepancies.
  • 100% in-browser: Barcodes are calculated and rendered locally via Web APIs. Zero network transmission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which barcode format should I choose for general inventory or serial numbers?
Code 128 is the most versatile 1D barcode format because it supports all standard ASCII characters (letters, numbers, punctuation) with high data density. For retail products sold in stores, use EAN-13 (worldwide) or UPC-A (United States and Canada).
Do I need to calculate the 13th check digit for EAN-13?
No. If you enter 12 digits, this generator calculates and appends the official Modulo-10 check digit automatically. If you provide all 13 digits, it validates the checksum and alerts you if there is a typo.
Can I print these barcodes on adhesive label sheets?
Yes. Download the vector SVG for crisp printing at any DPI or resolution without blurriness, or download PNG at 2x or 3x scale.
Is any data transmitted to an external server?
No. The barcode encoding algorithm executes entirely in JavaScript inside your browser. No data ever leaves your device.
