About This Tool

Compiles CommonMark and GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) into clean semantic HTML with both raw HTML source code and a live rendered preview.

Built with security by default: raw HTML tags in the input are escaped and dangerous URI schemes (javascript:, vbscript:, data:text/html) are stripped so untrusted Markdown can be previewed safely.

Key Features

  • GFM tables, task lists & strikethrough: Supports pipe tables with column alignment, - [x] checkboxes, ~~strikethrough~~, and fenced code blocks.
  • Live sanitized preview & HTML code: Switch between raw HTML markup and rendered visual preview or inspect both.
  • XSS-safe by default: Escapes raw HTML tags (<script>, inline event handlers) and blocks javascript:, vbscript:, and data:text/html URLs.
  • Heading ID slugs: Optionally generate slugified id="..." attributes on h1-h6 elements for anchor linking.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the converter prevent XSS in the live preview?
Before inline Markdown constructs are expanded, raw angle brackets and quotes are HTML-escaped, and all link and image URLs are checked against a protocol sanitizer that replaces javascript:, vbscript:, and data:text/html URLs with #.
Are GitHub Flavored Markdown tables and task lists supported?
Yes. Both pipe tables (with :---, :---:, and ---: alignment markers) and task list items (- [ ] and - [x]) are enabled by default and can be toggled individually.
What does Add heading IDs do?
When enabled, headings like ## Getting Started receive a slugified attribute (<h2 id="getting-started">Getting Started</h2>) so table-of-contents links can jump directly to sections.
Is my Markdown sent to a server?
No. Conversion and preview rendering run entirely in your browser.
